Fees & Patient Information
This page provides clear information about consultation fees, insurance, financial interests, and how clinical correspondence is handled, in line with transparency requirements for private medical practice. It is intended to help patients understand costs, communication, and what to expect when receiving care privately.
Outpatient Appointment
Thank you for choosing to see me at The OrthTeam Centre for your outpatient consultation. This letter sets out some important information that I am required by law to provide to you. This is for your information only and is not a bill. As this includes information about my charges, if you do not have private medical insurance but someone else will be paying your bill, you may wish to pass a copy of this letter to them. Please note that even if someone else is paying your bill or you have private medical insurance, you are responsible for paying any charges which they do not pay.
Private Medical Insurance
If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees.
I am recognised by a number of private medical insurers, including AXA, Allianz, Aviva, BUPA, BUPA International, WPA and Vitality. Patients are responsible for confirming that their policy covers the consultation and for any shortfall not reimbursed by their insurer.
Consultation fee
My fee for an initial consultation will not exceed £275.00 and my fee for any follow-up consultation will not exceed £175.00. These estimates are correct as at the date of this letter.
Fees for blood tests, phlebotomy, and imaging investigations are set by and charged for directly by The Orthteam Centre. These are in addition to any consultation or procedure fees.
During or following the consultation you may need certain tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) to help me diagnose your condition. If the test is undertaken by the clinic or hospital, and not by me, the fees for those tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately.
If there are any fees which I will charge in relation to any of the tests I advise that you have, I will let you know what those will be.
Cancellation and non-attendance policy
We require at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment or procedure without charge. For appointments on Tuesdays, we must receive notification before 2pm on the preceding Friday.
Should you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the appointment fee may be charged.
Failure to attend will result in a charge of up to 50% of the appointment fee.
Please note that most insurers will not cover a cancellation or non-attendance fee so you would be invoiced directly.
Quality information
You can compare independent information about the quality of private treatment offered at the hospital and other private healthcare providers from the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) website:
Clinic correspondence
All clinical correspondence will be sent in accordance with data protection and confidentiality requirements. Patients may choose to receive their letters either by post or by email and you may send your preference to us at admin@differentialdoc.co.uk. If sent by email, letters will be provided as a password-protected, encrypted PDF attachment. The password will be sent separately by mobile text message to the patient’s registered phone number. Patients who prefer postal correspondence will receive letters sent by post which will be marked private and confidential.
Financial interests
I do not hold any financial interest in The OrthTeam Centre or any other private healthcare facility.
